How Monochrome’s Payment System Works for Drivers

At Monochrome, we believe in clarity, transparency, and fairness when it comes to your earnings. Whether your trips are paid in cash, mobile money, bank transfer, or card, here’s exactly how your payments and commissions are handled.


💵 When You Collect Cash, Bank Transfer, or Mobile Money Payments

When a rider pays you directly in cash, bank transfer, or mobile money, you’re collecting the full trip amount, which already includes:

  • Your driver pay,

  • Monochrome’s commission, and

  • Any applicable state taxes.


This means you’re temporarily collecting Monochrome’s share and government taxes on our behalf.
At the end of the week, Monochrome will calculate the total amount you owe (if any) based on the trips you completed.

You’ll see a breakdown in your app:

Menu → Earnings → Select Week

If you owe Monochrome, your statement will clearly show something like:

“Pay Monochrome ₦120 by 12/12/2025 00:00.”

This is the deadline for you to settle your commissions and taxes.
If payment isn’t made by this date, your account may be temporarily restricted on Thursday morning of the following week until payment is received.

🕒 Example:

  • Week runs from Monday 1st March to Sunday 7th March

  • Payment deadline: Thursday 11th March

  • Account will be restricted from Thursday morning if unpaid

  • Once payment is made, your account will be reactivated (a penalty fee may apply for late payments).


💳 When the Trip Is Paid by Card

For card payments, Monochrome collects the entire fare directly from the rider’s payment card — this includes:

  • Driver pay,

  • Monochrome’s commission, and

  • Taxes.


At the end of the week, we’ll automatically calculate what Monochrome owes you for your completed card trips and pay your balance accordingly.

Your statement will show something like:

“Monochrome will pay you ₦XX by 11th March.”

This is the scheduled date when your earnings will be transferred to your registered bank or mobile money account.

📲 Keeping Track of Your Payments

You can always view your weekly statements and transaction breakdowns directly in your app:

Menu → Earnings → Select Week

You’ll see:

  • Each trip’s details

  • Total driver pay

  • Total commission

  • Taxes

  • Balance owed (to or from Monochrome)


✅ Summary

  • Cash/Mobile/Bank transfers: You collect Monochrome’s share and taxes upfront → You may need to pay Monochrome later.

  • Card payments: Monochrome collects everything → We’ll pay you your balance at the end of the week.

  • Check your Earnings tab weekly for full transparency.

  • Always pay outstanding fees before Thursday to avoid account restrictions.
