Fair Pricing & Fair Treatment Policy

Being Fair to Customers. Being Fair to Drivers.
At Monochrome, fairness is not optional, it is foundational.
Our Marketplace exists to give customers convenient access to everyday goods, and to give shop owners a trusted platform to sell and deliver those goods responsibly. This only works when pricing is honest, transparent, and respectful of the people using the platform.
This policy explains what Monochrome considers fair pricing, what is not allowed, and how we protect customers, drivers, and the integrity of the Marketplace.
1. Our Position on Fairness
Monochrome supports competitive pricing and healthy profit.
We do not support misleading, manipulative, or extortionate pricing practices.
Fairness means:
Customers can trust what they are paying for
Drivers are not placed in difficult or unsafe situations
Shop owners compete on value, not deception
The platform remains credible and sustainable
This policy applies to all shop owners, listings, promotions, and offers on the Monochrome Marketplace.
2. What Fair Pricing Means on Monochrome
Fair pricing on Monochrome means that the price of an item reflects its reasonable market value, and that any promotions or offers are genuine, clear, and not designed to mislead customers.
Prices must be:
Honest and transparent
Clearly represented before checkout
Consistent with the actual value of the item
Free from artificial inflation designed to create false discounts
Promotions should create real value for customers, not confusion.
3. Misleading Pricing (Strictly Prohibited)
Monochrome does not tolerate misleading pricing practices.
Examples of prohibited behaviour include, but are not limited to:
Artificially inflating an item’s price and then advertising a “discount” or “buy one get one free” offer that provides no real saving
Listing an item at double its normal value to make a promotion appear attractive
Creating false reference prices to suggest an item is “on sale” when it is not
Advertising bundles or offers that misrepresent quantity, size, or value
Using pricing tactics designed to pressure, confuse, or deceive customers
For example:
If an item normally sells for £50, listing it at £100 and advertising it as “Buy One Get One Free” is considered misleading. Monochrome will treat this as a violation of this policy.
4. Extortionate & Unreasonably Unfair Pricing
Monochrome also actively reviews pricing that may be considered extortionate or unreasonably unfair, even if it is not technically misleading.
This includes:
Excessively inflated prices with no reasonable justification
Exploiting high-demand situations to charge unfair amounts
Pricing that is significantly out of line with comparable items on the platform
Monochrome reserves the right to:
Cap prices
Temporarily unlist items
Require price adjustments
Remove Marketplace access for repeat violations
This is not about restricting fair profit. It is about preventing abuse of customer trust.
5. Fairness to Customers
Customers should feel confident that:
The price they see reflects real value
Offers are genuine
They are not being manipulated through pricing tactics
The Marketplace prioritises trust over short-term gains
Any practice that undermines customer trust undermines the entire platform.
6. Fairness to Drivers
Pricing fairness also affects drivers.
Unfair or misleading pricing can:
Create conflict at delivery
Put drivers in uncomfortable conversations
Increase order disputes and cancellations
Lead to unsafe or hostile situations
Monochrome will not allow pricing practices that place drivers at risk or force them to explain or defend shop owner pricing decisions.
Drivers are delivery partners, not negotiators or dispute mediators.
7. Monitoring, Review & Enforcement
Monochrome actively monitors Marketplace pricing, promotions, and customer feedback. We may review listings manually or automatically at any time.
If pricing is found to violate this policy, Monochrome may take action including:
Removal or correction of listings
Suspension of promotional campaigns
Temporary restrictions
Permanent removal from the Marketplace in serious or repeated cases
Shop owners are expected to cooperate with reviews and make good-faith corrections when requested.
8. Our Commitment to a Fair Marketplace
Monochrome is building a platform where customers return because they trust it, drivers feel respected, and shop owners succeed through honesty and quality.
We believe long-term success comes from:
Transparency over tricks
Fair competition over exploitation
Trust over short-term profit
By selling on the Monochrome Marketplace, shop owners agree to uphold these principles and treat Monochrome users fairly at all times.
