Kigali Documents
Document guide: Helping you with the right documents to upload
At Monochrome, we collect certain city-specific documents from drivers to ensure we remain fully compliant with local transport regulations in every area we operate. Each city may have different requirements such as e-hailing permits, municipal taxi licenses, transport union approvals, or driver identification cards, depending on local authorities. These documents help confirm that both the driver and vehicle are legally authorised to operate within that city. By collecting and verifying them, we protect our drivers from fines or suspensions, maintain the trust of our riders, and uphold Monochrome’s reputation as a safe, fully licensed, and professional ride-share service everywhere we operate.

Rwandan national identity card
We request a valid Rwandan National Identity Card as part of the verification process for all Monochrome drivers operating in Rwanda. This document confirms your legal eligibility to work and drive within the country, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Your ID must be clear, legible, and fully visible, showing your full name, date of birth, and National ID number. We use this information strictly for identity verification and background validation purposes to protect both drivers and riders.
Providing a clear copy of your ID helps us maintain trust, security, and professionalism across the Monochrome platform ensuring that every trip is completed by a verified, authorised driver.

Vehicle insurance confirmation
We require a valid and up-to-date vehicle insurance certificate for all Monochrome drivers. This document verifies that your vehicle is legally insured for private hire use, protecting both you and your passengers in the event of an accident or claim.
Your insurance certificate must clearly show the policyholder’s name, registration number, vehicle type, insurer’s name, and the policy validity dates. This ensures that every Monochrome driver operates with full legal coverage and meets national transport compliance standards.
Submitting a valid insurance confirmation helps maintain trust, safety, and accountability across the Monochrome platform, ensuring every trip is fully protected and professionally managed.

Proof of Vehicle Ownership certificate or permission letter
We require a valid Proof of Vehicle Ownership certificate or a signed permission letter from the registered vehicle owner to verify that the car used on the Monochrome platform is lawfully authorised for operation.
This ensures that every vehicle operating under Monochrome has legitimate ownership or documented permission, protecting both the driver and the rightful owner. The document must clearly display the plate number, chassis number, vehicle make, and owner’s name or signature.
Submitting this verification helps prevent unauthorised vehicle use, ensures compliance with national transport regulations, and maintains the integrity and professionalism of the Monochrome network.

Proof of technical inspection
We require all Monochrome drivers in Rwanda to provide a valid technical inspection certificate issued by an authorised inspection centre. This document confirms that your vehicle has been professionally examined and is mechanically safe for public transport use.
Submitting this certificate ensures that your car meets the national road safety and performance standards set by RURA (Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority). It helps guarantee that every Monochrome trip is carried out in a vehicle that is reliable, secure, and environmentally compliant.
Your inspection document must be clear, legible, and up to date, showing your vehicle registration number, inspection date, and confirmation of passed safety checks. This helps Monochrome maintain a high standard of vehicle safety and trust for both riders and drivers on the platform.

A clear driver photo shown to riders
We collect a clear driver photograph that will be displayed to riders for easy identification and safety purposes. Your photo must show your full face clearly, with no sunglasses, hats, caps, or earpieces. The background should be plain and uncluttered, preferably light-coloured and the image must include the top of your shoulders. Avoid filters, dark lighting, or group photos. This helps ensure riders can easily recognise you when their trip begins, maintaining professionalism and trust across the Monochrome platform.

Proof of your bank account
Please upload a clear document that proves the bank account is yours. Acceptable examples are a recent mini-statement, a screenshot from your banking app (showing the account name), or a bank-issued letter. The important details we must see are: account holder name, account number, sort code (or bank routing number) and bank name. You may hide or blur sensitive items such as balances, transaction lines or card numbers

Clear Image of the Front View of Vehicle
Please upload a clear front-facing photo of your vehicle. This helps confirm your registration number, verify your vehicle’s condition, and ensure there are no unauthorised logos, stickers, or damage visible.

Clear Image of the Rear View of Vehicle
We ask for a clear photo of the rear of your vehicle to confirm your number plate, make, model, and colour. This also helps us check for any unauthorised stickers or damage before your vehicle goes live on Monochrome.

Clear Image of the Left Side View
Provide a full, clear photo of the left side of your vehicle. This helps us confirm the vehicle’s body condition, colour consistency, and absence of any external branding or unauthorised modifications.

Clear Image of the Right Side View
Submit a clear image of the right-hand side of your vehicle. This allows us to verify that the paintwork and panels are in good condition and that there are no unauthorised markings or damages.

Clear Image of the Back Seat Area
Take a photo of the rear passenger area of your vehicle. This ensures your interior is clean, safe, and comfortable for riders. We also check that the seatbelts and upholstery are in good condition.

Clear Image of the Front Cabin Area
Upload a clear image of the front cabin, including the driver and passenger seats. This helps confirm your dashboard and seating area are tidy, professional, and ready to welcome passengers.
