Fixing Referral Code Errors: How to Enter Your Code Correctly and Complete Signup

🚫 Why You’re Seeing “Please check your referral code entered and try again.”

When signing up to Monochrome, users have the option to enter a referral code to unlock rewards. However, if the referral code is typed incorrectly, you may see the red error notification:

Please check your referral code entered and try again.

This means the system couldn’t match the referral code you typed to any existing valid code in our database. Let’s explain why this happens and how to fix it quickly.


🔍 Common Mistakes to Avoid

Here are the most frequent reasons this error pops up:

  1. Incorrect case sensitivity

    • Referral codes are case-sensitive.
      MONO1 is correct
      mono1, Mono1, or MoNo1 will trigger an error

  2. Extra spaces

    • Be careful not to include spaces before or after the code.
      " MONO1" or "MONO1 " (with a space)
      MONO1 (no spaces)

  3. Wrong characters or typos

    • Check that you haven’t accidentally swapped a number for a letter or vice versa.
      For example: MON01 (with a zero) is not the same as MONO1 (with the letter O).


✅ What You Should Do


To move forward:

  1. Double-check the referral code and enter it exactly as it was given to you.

  2. Remove any spaces at the start or end.

  3. Match the capital letters exactly — referral codes must be entered in all caps.

  4. After correcting the code, re-enter it, and only then:

  5. Tap “Send OTP” again — the OTP should now be sent successfully.

  6. Once you receive the OTP, complete your account registration.


💡 Helpful Tip

You can copy and paste the referral code directly from a message or note, but always make sure it doesn’t pick up any invisible spaces. Tap the field and delete any lingering spaces before hitting “Send OTP”.
